Florida Panthers forward Krys Barch will have a hearing with league disciplinary officials regarding accusations that he directed a racial slur toward Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban. He was scheduled to meet with the NHL on Tuesday at 3pm et, but the meeting was delayed and may not happen until Wednesday. Barch was given a game misconduct after a dustup at the end of the first period of Floridas 3-2 win on Saturday night. The Miami Herald, citing an unidentified league official, said linesman Darren Gibbs overheard Barch use the slur against Subban as he was skating off the ice. "Personally, I didnt hear anything. I dont even know what happened, really," Subban said following the game. "A couple of guys on the ice told me that something was said. I dont know what was said. I didnt hear it. As far as Im concerned its really out of my hands, so I dont really know too much about it." Canadiens head coach Randy Cunneyworth had few details to offer. "I know it was some sort of a game misconduct," he said. "Im not sure what was said or how it was relayed or who exactly heard it. Were not aware of the exact words in any way and we dont think well ever find out." Barch has no points in 22 games this season, the first 10 of those with Dallas before he joined Florida. www.chiefsjerseyforsale.com/Justin-Houston-Jersey-For-Sale/.Y. -- Undrafted rookie linebacker Brad Jefferson has been released by the Buffalo Bills as the team made its final cut to reach the NFLs 80-player roster limit. www.chiefsjerseyforsale.com. MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Patience is not a virtue for former Georgia star Harris English in his second year on the PGA Tour. "Im still looking for my first win and still hungry to be the best and to try to get my first win," English said. In his 44th event, English is closer than hes ever been after shooting a 6-under 64 on Friday to open a two-stroke lead in the St. Jude Classic. The 23-year-old had never even had a piece of a lead on the PGA Tour until Thursday when he found himself tied with five others, including Davis Love III, after 18 holes. He used his familiarity with the TPC Southwind courses Bermuda greens to help him roll in five birdie putts, and he holed out from 181 yards for eagle on the par-4 fifth with only one bogey to finish the second round at 10-under 130. Tour rookie Shawn Stefani was second after a 65. Paul Haley II and Scott Stallings each shot 68 to reach 5 under. Love was tied with four others at 4 under after a 70, and defending champion Dustin Johnson also had a 70 to finish at 3 under. Phil Mickelson was 2 under after a 67 in his final tuneup for the U.S. Open next week at Merion in Pennsylvania. English is used to competition after playing at Georgia where the toughest golf was the qualifying rounds just to reach the top five. He still hangs out with Ryuji Imada, Kevin Kisner and Brendon Todd on tour. "Theres a bunch of Georgia guys out here that we can kind of lean on," English said. He won the Southern Amateur in 2011 and was an amateur when he won on the Web.com Tour at the Nationwide Childrens Hospital Invitational in July 2011. English moved to the PGA Tour in 2012 and finished 79th on the money list. This year, he already has three top 10s, including his best finish yet with a tie for sixth at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans. But no win. Not yet. "Its awesome to be in this position," English said. "Ive worked very hard the last couple weeks and couple months to get in this position, and I feel like Im ready and I feel like I got a lot of good people around me to help me." Only four players had rounds of 4 under or better on a near perfect day. English had the best round on a course playing very tough despite a temperature around 80 degrees -- very rare at this time of year in Memphis. Any wind came out of the north instead of the south. Combined with the small and firm greens, hitting the greens required precise shots. Hitting the fairways also is a must to control shots to the greens. "Obviously, if he hhas another two days like the first two, it will be tough to catch him," Johnson said about English.dddddddddddd"But I would say I look forward to being bunched throughout on Sunday coming down the stretch." Love has kept track of English for years. English lives in Sea Island, and Love isnt surprised by how well he is playing. "His game has really improved, and hes playing well and hes not afraid to shoot low scores," Love said. English opened with a 66 putting himself into the knot of players tied at 4 under atop the leaderboard after the first 18 holes. Teeing off Friday morning, English opened with three birdies in three holes, rolling in putts from 9, 10 and 17 feet. Then English had possibly the shot of the day on the par-4 No. 5 playing at 482 yards. After a 3-wood off the tee, he hit an 8-iron 181 yards from the fairway and watched the ball roll at least 10 feet before falling into the cup for eagle. "I havent holed out in a while," English said. "To make it on 2, probably the hardest hole on the golf course, is kind of unbelievable." English dropped a 15-footer on the par-4 15th to become the first player here to reach double-digits under par, and he added a 10-footer on the par-5 16th after hitting his shot from the rough just in front of the green. That birdie put him 11 under. "I grew up on greens like this down in south Georgia, fast Bermuda greens," English said. "Im very comfortable on these type of greens. I know when its going to be fast, and its really fast. And when into the green, its really slow. I have a good handle on the speed. Thats really what helped me today. When you get the speed down on the greens, you can start making some putts." The only hiccup in Englishs round came on No. 18. He hit driver only twice Friday and stuck with his 3-wood off the tee only to hit what he called his only bad shot of the day. The ball stopped near a drain. He wound up with a 30-footer and two-putted for his lone bogey. "Im still looking for my first win and still hungry to be the best and to try to get my first win," English said Notes: Guan Tianlang, the 14-year-old amateur from China who made the cut at the Masters, missed the cut. The cut came at 1-over 141, and he went 73-71-144. ... Brandt Snedeker (143), D.A. Points (148) and Paul Goydos (145) also missed the cut. KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Former Masters champion Charl Schwartzel and Wu Ashun of China have the clubhouse lead in the Malaysian Open after the second round was suspended because of darkness. Schwartzel and Wu shot 4-under 68s Friday to finish 9-under overall at the European and Asian Tour event. Some 75 players, half of the remaining field, were unable to complete the round. Scoreboard leader Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand was 10 under through nine holes. Schwartzel and Wu had a three-stroke lead on Chinas Liang Wen-chong (68), Englands Lee Slattery (70) and Scotlands Scott Jamieson (72). They were one shot ahead of a group at 5 under, including Rafa Cabrera-Bello, who had a 67. The Spaniard had a difficult journey to the tournament. His bag and passport were stolen, so he flew from London to Madrid and back again to get a replacement before the 13-hour flight to Kuala Lumpur. "I was on a train going from my home in Switzerland to the airport and I had my bag stolen, so all my personal stuff -- passport, money, credit cards, computer, camera, iPad -- was gone," Cabrera-Bello said. On Thursday, thunderstorms caused suspension of the first round with half the field still on the course. www.vikingsjerseyforsale.com/Sharrif-Floyd-Jersey-For-Sale/. The Colorado Rockies reached the 23-year-old lefty for four runs and seven hits in just five innings of the Rays 7-4 win.Canadian coach Kieran Crowley has selected a roster loaded with size up front and experience in the back for the Churchill Cup final on Saturday against the favoured England Saxons. While injury and unavailability limited some of Crowleys options, the Canadian squad still features eight starters from the lineup that defeated Russia 34-18 and 12 starters from Canadas 26-12 win over Italy A. "Its the best squad available to us and its a matter of managing the players we have," Crowley said. "Theyre ready to go. If we can match them around the set piece I believe well be right in this game." The Saxons have won the tournament final five times in the last nine years. Crowley knows their forwards will be the launching pad for their attack. "That is a massive challenge on Saturday," he said. "England base a lot of their game around their scrum and theyve scored four penalty tries in their first two games. Weve got to work as a unit. Well be up against a strong pack." Crowley felt the Canadian forward pack handled itself well against Italy A. He has named almost an identical lineup from one through eight, with the addition of Jamie Cudmore the lone change. The front row sees the return of captain Pat Riordan to the starting lineup, bolstered by props Hubert Buydens and Jason Marshall. "Its good to have the experience of Riordan back in the starting lineup," Crowley said. "Marshall has come on in leaps and bounds and Buydens has been one of the most improved players of the tournament." Erichsen returns to the starting second row after being left out of the squad against Russia. He is joined by Cudmore, who returned to the Canadian team last week for the first time sinnce 2007.dddddddddddd Not surprisingly, the back row of Jebb Sinclair, Chauncey OToole and Aaron Carpenter will start again. The only forward unavailable for selection is Ryan Hamilton, who has been rested due to a strained knee ligament. In the backs, both wing Justin Mensah-Coker and scrum half Ed Fairhurst have had to return home due to work commitments. Sean White will return to the starting scrum half position, pairing with Ander Monro at fly half. The centres pairing of Phil Mackenzie and Ryan Smith will replace Conor Trainor and Mike Scholz. "The other two have done really well, but we feel with the way the English play, Smith and Mackenzie will handle it better," he said. "Both Conor and Scholz are inexperienced. Smith and Mackenzie bring a few more assets at this level, but on the other hand Scholz and Trainor create things." Meanwhile, the back three sees James Pritchard moved to the wing, Ciaran Hearn on the other wing and Matt Evans at fullback. "Were looking for our wingers to have more involvement," Crowley said of the change. "Matts a very good counterattacker and James has played both fullback and wing. Hearns been playing well. Hes really having a go and hopefully he gets an opportunity to show that." Saturday will be a rematch of last years Churchill Cup final and an opportunity for Canada to win the tournament for the first time. Crowley says the game will also be a good indication of how well the team is building toward the Rugby World Cup in September. "I think weve made massive strides in the level of our performances," he said. "This game is going to be the biggest measurement in terms of where we are for the World Cup." ' ' '

General manager Sandy Alderson said that Davis has not improved from the injury that has sidelined him since May 11. An MRI taken Wednesday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York also showed cartilage damage in the left ankle. "Were hopeful that over the next three weeks he will progress to running. If that is not successful, then there may be some consideration about doing some surgery on the ankle. Right now I dont see him coming back any time soon," Alderson said. "Basically over the next three weeks hell progress to hopefully running. And if he cant tolerate the running, then we go to Plan B." That plan would be an operation similar to microfracture surgery, which Davis said would require three months for recovery before beginning rehabilitation. In microfracture surgery, tiny cracks are made in the bone to enhance cartilage growth. It is most commonly performed on knees. "Obviously surgery is an athletes nightmare, but Ive had one surgery -- on my wrist -- and it worked out really well and it came back better than I was before," Davis said. "If its gonna get me on the field again obviously thats something we have to do." Davis will shed the protective boot that he was wearing for the past three weeks in an eeffort to enhance circulation in the ankle.dddddddddddd. The second-year slugger and Alderson acknowledged that the boot could have hindered the healing process. Alderson also said, "I dont think there was any expectation the cartilage would be a major issue at this point." Davis was off to a strong start in his second major league season, batting .302 with seven homers and 25 RBIs before he was hurt in a collision with David Wright on May 10 while camped under a popup near the Coors Field mound. "The reason I didnt think I had a normal ankle sprain was because when I was spraining my ankle or rolling my ankle, Davids knee hit me in my shin and kind of made my bone force a little downward, so my tibia and talus scrapped each other or dented, and its not a normal area to have it get dented," Davis said. "Theres not a lot of blood in the ankle joint, so its harder to heal than, say, an elbow." Davis tried performing baseball activities -- hitting, throwing -- in the first few days after being injured but was quickly shut down. He has not done any since then. He also has not been able to run, saying any time he goes up or down on his toes his ankle hurts. "Right now the damage remains significant enough that he cant tolerate the activity," Alderson said. Wright, out since May 16 with a stress fracture in his lower back, will be examined Thursday. He is hoping to increase his workouts. ' ' '

WASHINGTON -- Right-hander Chien-Ming Wang is willing to pitch in relief -- as unlikely as it seems that the Washington Nationals would ask him to do that. Wang has yet to pitch for Washington this season after hurting his left hamstring during a spring training appearance March 15. Hes slated to make one more start at Triple-A Syracuse as part of his rehab work but was in Washington on Wednesday to throw a bullpen session in front of coaches. When he does make it to the majors, the Nationals will need to decide how to make room for him on the roster. All five members of Washingtons starting rotation have pitched well this season: Stephen Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez, Jordan Zimmermann, Edwin Jackson and Ross Detwiler. "Maybe they want me to be a bullpen guy; thats what Ive got to do," Wang said through an interpreter. Asked whether its tough to know he could take someone elses job in the rotation, Wang said: "Its really tough for me. All of them and I, were close. As a teammate, I really dont want to see that kind of situation, but ... I still need to follow the team, no matter what happens." In his most recent start for Syracuse, on Monday, Wang went eight-plus innings, allowing four earned runs and 11 hits with one walk, one strikeout and one hit batter. "Overall, I feel pretty good. Not bad at all. Just keep working on my stuff," Wang said. Three of his five career appearances in relief in the majors came in 2009, the year he had the surgery on his right shoulder that kept him out of the big leagues for two years. When he returned last season, Wang went 4-3 with a 4.04 ERA in 11 starts. Relying primarily on his trademark sinker, he struck out 25 batters and walked 13 in 62 1-3 innings. Manager Davey Johnson wouldnt rule out the possibility of using Wang out of the bullpen. But Johnson did say: "I look at him as a quality starter." Wang went 4-3 with a 4.04 ERA in 11 starts for Washington in 2011. Relying primarily on his trademark sinker, he struck out 25 batters and walked 13 in 62 1-3 innings. In other injury-related Nationals news, catcher Wilson Ramos confirmed what was expected: He will miss the rest of this season. Ramos tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on a play at the plate on Saturday night, and he said he will have surgery in about two or three weeks, after the swelling goes down. Closer Drew Storen, meanwhile, took soft toss Wednesday, throwing the ball 100 times, and described the start of his rehab from elbow surgery as "a tedious process ... like driving a Ferrari 5 miles an hour." Storen, who threw for the first time Monday then took Tuesday off, said his arm felt week but "normal, relatively speaking," and added that he still expects to be able to pitch "right around" the All-Star break. LAKELAND, Fla. -- For Justin Verlander, $180 million was enough. No need to wait two seasons, become a free agent and find out how much baseballs biggest spenders would offer. "I wondered what it would be like to test free agency, but the pull of Detroit was too much," the Tigers ace said Friday after agreeing to a seven-year contract, the richest deal for a pitcher in baseball history. "Once spring training started I knew I wanted to stay." Verlanders deal broke the record for pitchers set just a month earlier when Seattles Felix Hernandez agreed to a $175 million, seven-year contract. "Its a very exciting day," Tigers President Dave Dombrowski said. "Its a big day for us. Hes as fine a pitcher as there is in baseball. His record speaks for itself. He can be one of the greatest, if not the greatest pitcher in Tiger history." The 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young Award winner had been signed through 2014 under an $80 million, five-year contract paying him $20 million in each of the next two seasons. The new deal keeps those salaries and adds $140 million in guaranteed money: $28 million each season from 2015-19. It includes a $22 million option for 2020 that would become guaranteed if he finishes among the top five in 2019 Cy Young voting. The deal could be worth $202 million over eight seasons. "The city of Detroit is committed to winning," he said. "Im so excited to be playing in Detroit. I was never shy about saying I wanted to stay in Detroit. Its tough to put into words how much I love Detroit. We have the best fans in baseball." Considered an elite pitcher since winning the 2006 AL Rookie of the Year award, the 30-year-old right-hander is 124-65 with a 3.40 ERA in eight major league seasons with two no-hitters. He was 24-5 two years ago, becoming the first starting pitcher to sweep Cy Young and MVP since Bostons Roger Clemens in 1986. Verlander also has compiled a 19-win season and two each of 18 and 17. He led the big leagues in strikeouts and innings in 2009, 2011 and 2012. "He is never going to be content," Dombrowski said. "He wants a World Series, and he wants the Hall of Fame." Verlanders teammates were pleased for their star pitcher. "First, he deserves it because it means a lot for all of us," pitcher Max Scherzer said. "From now on, every time we go out to dinner, I am not even going to make a token effort to pull out my credit card. Every dinner this year is on him." www.jetsjerseyforsale.com/Dee-Milliner-Jersey-For-Sale/. AUCKLAND, New Zealand -- Italy put away Russia with its biggest World Cup victory ever, and Samoa centre Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu escaped with a warning Tuesday from organizers for some controversial tweets. Italy, a tournament regular since the first in 1987, achieved its highest cup score with a 53-17 win over newcomer Russia. The only teams yet to score a try in this World Cup served up a 12-try show for an appreciative crowd of 12,415 in Trafalgar Park. The Italians had failed to score a try in an opening 32-6 loss to Australia, and wanted a bonus-point win to have any chance of qualifying from Pool C for the quarterfinals. They accomplished the mission quickly. Giulio Toniolatti scored his second try and Italys fourth in the 23rd minute. By halftime, they led 38-7. Fellow winger Tommaso Benvenuti also ran in a pair, and there were further tries for Edoardo Gori, Luke McLean, and replacement Alesssandro Zanni. Italy received a penalty try not long before halftime, just before hooker Fabio Ongaro was sin-binned for a late tackle. Vladimir Ostroushko, Alexey Makovetskiy and replacement Alexander Yanyushkin crossed for Russia. Fuimaono-Sapolu crossed World Cup organizers by describing their treatment of Samoa as akin to the Holocaust, slavery and apartheid. The vent on Twitter after Samoa lost to Wales 17-10 on Sunday has since been deleted, but his complaint that Samoa and other Tier Two and Three teams have an unfair schedule compared to the top-tier sides resonated in the rugby world. He challenged the International Rugby Board to suspend him, saying it would be another injustice. But in a meeting with Rugby World Cup Limited, Samoa officials apologized on his behalf and the organizers let the England-based centre off with a warning. "RWCL has accepted an official apology and is satisfied with the proactive measures that the union has outlined to RWCL to address the matter," it said in a statement. "There will be no further action and RWCL considers the matter to be closed." Fuimaono-Sapolu had Tuesday off like the rest of his team and didnt attend the meeting, but Samoa said when the players regroup on Wednesday they will decide whether he should receive punishment from the team. One who was punished on Tuesday was Fiji flanker Dominiko Waqaniburotu, who was issued a three-week suspension for a dangerous tip tackle on South Africa fullback Pat Lambie last weekend. Waqaniburotu will miss the Fijians remaining pool matches against Samoa and Wales, and the quarterfinals if they make it. In Wednesdays only match, Tonga and Japan, both winless, meet in Whangarei. Neighbours South Africa and Namibia then meet for only the second time ever on Thursday in Auckland. Expected to win big, the Springboks have given first starts in this tournament to tighthead prop CJ van der Linde, utility forward Willem Alberts, scrumhalf Francois Hougaard and winger Gio Aplon. Star winger Bryan Habana, recovered from a knee injury, has a chance to end an 11-test drought and become South Africas outright leading try-scorer. Habana has shared the record of 38 with Joost van der Westhuizen for more than a year. "If that 39th try comes, it comes, and if the Springboks win 150-0 without me scoring a try and Ive contributed, then Ill be happy," Habana said. Coach Peter de Villiers loved the attitude: "If you can give me one player on this team that will put his interests above the interests of the team, then today I will personally send him home." Ten of the Namibian team are set to start for a third straight Pool D match. France surprised in the team named to play New Zealand at Eden Park this weekend, dropping flyhalf Francois Trinh-Duc and replacing him with regular scrumhalf Morgan Parra. Feisty coach Marc Lievrement said he was not impressed with Trinh-Duc in the narrow wins over Japan and Canada and was challenging him to regain his old form. Lievremont said Parra deserved to play outside scrumhalf rival Dimitri Yachvili. Parra played club rugby at flyhalf three years ago, but otherwise has appeared sparingly in the pivotal role. Only last week, Parra said he was struggling to see himself as a No. 10, despite an encouraging performance against Japan when he replaced the injured David Skrela. "I will give it my best, and try and do something good," he said. "I have nothing to lose, I know that. I wont ask myself too many questions and try to enjoy it." Beats by dre 2013. Just five years ago the Edmonton Oilers, who entered the playoffs as an eight seed, advanced all the way to the Final before losing to the Carolina Hurricanes. Two years prior to that, the Calgary Flames - a six seed entering the playoffs - made a run to the Final before falling to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Beats by dre Cyber Monday sale. The incident took place in the 68th minute of the match, won by Kansas City, 2-0. Renteria was fouled by Nagamura, precipitating an argument. Both players received yellow cards bef
